Twins 10, Tigers 4 FINAL
WP: Scott Diamond (12-8, 3.64)
LP: Max Scherzer (16-7, 3.82)
The Detroit Tigers had an opportunity to gain more ground against the Chicago White Sox, and claim a share of first place, but failed to deliver as the Minnesota Twins handily defeated Detroit, 10-4, in the first game of a double header.
Scherzer, coming off a shoulder fatigue issue in his last start, handled the Twins through five, before giving up a triple to Ben Revere, a single and a double to Willingham, scoring a Minnesota run.
Scherzer looked good striking out four batters. There was a lot of concern about the shoulder before the game, but none during the game.
Phil Coke, Brayan Villarreal, Darin Downs, and Luke Putkonen combined to give up seven runs in the loss.
